Coachella Day 1

So after month’s of waiting, I finally made it to the weekend of Coachella!  This was the culmination of all my concert-going to this point.  Coachella has always been a bucket list festival to attend since it’s arguably the most popular festival in the country.  Here is a look into my first day at the festival.

I first rode to the festival with friends, and arrived in the area around 3:10.  We planned to get there early just in case the entrances were crowded.  The first artist we planned to see was Skip Marley, who’s set started at 3:50 pm.  Once in the area of the festival, we had a hard time locating the parking lot.  The route we traveled lacked signage, and made it hard for us to actually figure out where we needed to go.  We asked directions from a few different guards who were either directing traffic, or were working the entrance of another lot.  Unfortunately, between all our limited knowledge of the area and poor directions, it took us a good 20 minutes to actually find the lot and get parked.  It was great we didn’t have to pay for parking (since it comes included with admission), but that was probably the most stressful part of the day for me.

Once we got in, we grabbed a quick bite to eat, and started our day.  Below is a list of the artists I saw throughout the first day:

  • Skip Marley
  • Super Duper Kyle
  • Kali Uchis
  • Daniel Caesar
  • Vince Staples
  • Kygo
  • SZA
  • Alison Wonderland
  • The Weeknd

I spent more time at some of these artists’ shows more than others, but I enjoyed them all.  Here is a list of some of my highlights from the day:

  • Favorite performance of the day – The Weeknd
  • Best stage – The Weeknd
  • Best vocal peformance – Daniel Caesar
  • Most energetic performer – SZA
  • Best crowd – Daniel Caesar
  • Favorite setlist – The Weeknd
  • Favorite surprise of the day – SZA bringing out guest, Khalid
  • Favorite restaurant/food item  of the day – Mom’s Spaghetti – Mom’s Vegan Spaghetti
  • Favorite non-music attraction – The Beer Garden

Today was a full day which included about 10 hours inside the festival.  Although I was very tired after the first day, I’m looking forward to what the second day holds.
